Lompoc Valley Visitors Guide 13 T he Cabrillo High School Aquarium is one of the largest and most developed public marine facilities between Long Beach and Monterey, with over 7,000 visitors of all ages visiting the 6,000 square foot facility annually. The Aquarium is locat- ed on the campus of Cabrillo High School in Van- denberg Village, less than five miles from the Pa - cific Ocean and Vandenberg Air Force Base. With the combination of twenty-five exhibits, thousands of students and teachers, and the support of leaders from throughout the state, the Cabrillo High School Aquarium has become one of the strongest envi- ronmental educational tools on the Central Coast. Each display depicts a different portion of the en - vironment ranging from shallow water tidal habitats to the surf break at Point Conception. Visitors learn about the delicate nature of the connected ecosys- tems throughout our coastal environment. The facility attracts guests from all walks of life and all parts of the world. Students host daily field trips from schools in Lompoc, Santa Maria, the Santa Ynez Valley, and surrounding communities through- out Santa Barbara County. The school tours in par- ticular are so popular that on many days, Aquarium students host three different school groups in the morning, and then two more after lunch. The Aquar-
