Lompoc Valley Visitors Guide 18 Lompoc Valley Walking and Fitness Trails Hike up to Lookout Point for a spectacular view of the Lompoc Valley - located at the end of South Z St and approximately 3/4 mile up to the top. Ryon Park is located at Ocean Avenue and O Street and its walking trail is 1330 feet, just over 1/4 mile. River Park is located at Highway 246 and Sweeney Road and its walking trail is 5138 feet, which is just short of a mile. Beattie Park is located at Olive Avenue and 5th Street and its walking and fitness trail is 2172 feet, 468 feet shy of a 1/2 mile. The Riverbend Multi-Purpose trail is approximately 2.25 miles. Return to Freedom Wild Horse Sanctuary Return to Freedom is a 300 acre wild horse sanc- tuary located in the beautiful Jalama Valley of Lom- poc. Home to more than 200 wild horses and burros, the organization is working to protect America’s re- maining wild horse herds through sanctuary, educa- tion and conservation. You can visit the sanctuary May-October when they host a variety of tours and clinics for the public. For Additional information call: Phone: 805-737-9246 Local Beaches & Lakes Jalama Beach: Visitors never cease to be awed as they motor west through lush rolling hills and come upon the cliffs overlooking Jalama Beach where they see miles of sandy beach, waves breaking on the shore, and few signs of civilization. Jalama Beach offers camp sites with a view! This Santa Barbara County Park maintains 110 camp sites, all overlooking the ocean or beach-front. Each site has a picnic table and BBQ pit, with hot show- ers, restrooms and water nearby. Twenty-nine sites offer RV electrical hookup, and dump stations are available. Camp sites are assigned on a first-come, first served basis. One vehicle may purchase only one camp site. Only group areas may be reserved in advance. Here you will find practically everything you need for a relaxing get- away in the great outdoors. Mild temperatures, typi- cally sunny skies, and celebrated fishing conditions make camping here during winter months excep- tionally rewarding. The County entered into a long-term lease with the Federal Bureau of Reclamation in 1953 to man- age the 9,000 acre Cachuma Lake Recreation Area. Cachuma Lake was formed by the construction of Bradbury Dam in that same year. Located off scenic Highway 154 in the Santa Ynez Valley, Cachuma Lake is midway between the beaches and bustle of Santa Barbara and the Dan- ish Community of Solvang. At any age... in any sea- son... you'll find that the Cachuma Lake Recreation Area offers a fun and relaxing getaway. From the South: Take Highway 101 north to Santa Barbara. Take the "Cachuma Lake/Highway 154" exit and follow the signs. Drive approximately 18 miles. There is a sign for the park ½ mile before the entrance, and there is a right turn lane to use for your safety.
