Lompoc Valley Visitors Guide 22 Amtrak: Surf Station T he Surf Station is a regular stop on the Pacific Surfliner Route. This route only travels be - tween San Luis Obispo in the North to San Di- ego in the south, making stops at passenger depots along the way. The Surf station is an unstaffed rail stop, 10 miles west of Lompoc, on the Pacific Coast. There is no bus service between the Surf depot and the City of Lompoc. Tickets may be purchased on- line at amtrak.com , through a travel agent, or on board the train. Amtrak buses stop daily in Lompoc to make con- nections at train depots in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara. Train schedules and routes may be accessed at the Amtrak website: www.amtrak.com City of Lompoc Transit (COLT) COLT provides public transit service within Lom- poc, Mission Hills, and Vandenberg Village. Ser- vice operates from 6:30 am (fixed route), 7:00 am (curb-to-curb) to 7:00 pm on weekdays, and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday. COLT does not operate on Sundays or on legal holidays (New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day). If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is observed. Children under 6 years of age may travel free when accompanied by a fare paying passenger 14 years and older. Escorts for persons with disabilities travel free. "Person with Disability" is defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. COLT also provides service to Buellton and Solvang through "Wine Country Express" which connects Lompoc, Buellton and Solvang with 3 round trips a day. The fare for this service is $2 each way. All buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts and bicycle racks. COLT provides service to Santa Barbara with one round trip each Tuesday and Thursday. Vehicles de- part Mission Plaza at 8:30 am and depart the Santa Barbara MTD bus depot at 3:30 pm. ADA service is also available on each trip.
